The Public Humanities Hub Okanagan is searching for undergraduate and graduate student representatives for its Steering Committee and various Task Forces this Academic Year 2019-2020. The Public Humanities Hub (PHH-O) at UBC Okanagan extends the UBC research cluster strategy to foster research excellence and develop Humanities collaborations with public-facing research and programming. One of PHH-O’s main goals for this Academic Year is the July 2020 conference on public-facing research among scholars across Canada, to be hosted by UBCO.
The Steering Committee of the PHH-O is responsible for strategic planning and policy-making, and making recommendations to the Director. It may delegate the formulation of policy and programming to limited-term Task Forces dedicated to particular mandates, but takes responsibility for approving their proposals.
Task Forces are appointed by the PHH to address specific needs, such as: the formulation of a mission statement; the formulation of specific policy; the organization of an event; etc. Though the PHH-O is looking for one (1) undergraduate and one (1) graduate student representatives for the Steering Committee, some qualified students may also be contacted to be a part of one of the Task Forces.
Interested applicants may send a letter of intent outlining the following: a) why they want to be a student representative of the PHH-O Steering Committee; b) their relevant experiences to date; c) their name, program of study, and availability for this Academic Year.
The letter must be sent to public.humanities.ok@ubc.ca no later than November 15, 2019.
