Research
The Okanagan campus has a number of centres, institutes, research clusters, laboratories, and researchers working on public humanities research projects.
The AMP Lab houses projects that engage in the work of the humanities — adding value to cultural artifacts through interpretation and analysis — in a digital context. Broadly, all AMP Lab projects investigate code as a sustainable medium for representing cultural history. The stakes are high, as the development of sustainable, robust humanist data shapes what both scholars and the general public can know about digitized cultural history.
The AMP Lab is located in FIP 251.
The Centre for Mindful Engagement is a gathering place for researchers from across all disciplines and interests to explore the significances of mindful community engagement. The Innovative Learning Centre brings students, educators, and community members together from across disciplines and interests to co-create learning experiences invested in this elemental and formative nature of knowledge. Thus, innovation is not characterized as a distinct quality in self, others, and situations that is rare and special but, instead, turns to innovation’s roots of innovare, to renew, for insights into its elemental and catalytic roles within teaching/learning experiences of all kinds.
The FEELed Lab is a collaborative and interdisciplinary environmental humanities field lab located on unceded Syilx territory in Kelowna, BC.

This cluster draws on the collective expertise of researchers from Canada, the U.K. and France to co-develop an arts-based community-engaged research model. The cluster will combine cultural, creative and mindfulness practices and integrate the perspectives of Indigenous scholars and artists to explore the cultural, spiritual and environmental dimensions of health and well-being.
